概述

The Correll Scholars Program was established in 2014 and began Fall semester 2015 to recognize and prepare exceptionally promising students as future community leaders 在我们的地区. The program has since ended and is no longer accepting applications.

    • Awards were $5,000 per student, renewable annually, for a maximum of four 一年s. 二十 scholarships were awarded each 一年.
    • Students had to attend East Georgia State College’s Swainsboro campus.
    • Correll Scholars who met eligibility requirements and continued their studies as a junior or senior in a baccalaureate degree program at EGSC were given first consideration for subsequent 一年 awards.
    • Students had to attain qualifying enrollment status to receive subsequent 一年 funding: “sophomore” for 一年 two, “junior” for 一年 three, and “senior” for 一年 four.

Application Process

The Application process was designed to identify students who demonstrate the talent, motivation, and potential to transform themselves and their community. 它需要 以下几点:

    • Completion of the Correll Scholars Program Application
    • Submission of an essay, “How will you use your education to transform your community?” (1000 word maximum) ( included in online submission)

Before an applicant was able to accept the scholarship they had to apply and be accepted 对EGSC. 

Selection of Scholars

Members of the Correll Scholars Program Selection Committee reviewed all completed applications and essays.  A list of finalists was selected and invited for personal interviews by the committee.  Final selection of Correll Scholars was based upon committee 批准.  Notification of recipients was made by the middle of December for Scholars entering the following Fall Semester.

Rigorous Program Standards
    • 保持3分.平均绩点0或更高.
    • Complete at least 26 credit hours in freshman 一年 to maintain eligibility for sophomore 一年.
    • Participate in a one hour credit course each semester that focuses on issues and challenges facing our region and work collaboratively to design solutions for those challenges.
    • Actively participate in tutoring and mentoring of local high school students at the Fulford)中心.
    • Attain the 服务 Seal of Distinction.
